Afghanistan has two official languages which are Dari (which is the modern dialect of Persian spoken in Afghanistan) and Pashto, although many others are spoken by minority groups across the country. The local currency is the Afghani, which is made of 100 pul. Afghanistan is a country that has a long and rich ancient and political history.

Cost of living in Afghanistan

The cost of living in Afghanistan is considered to be low compared to most other countries. Prices in the capital of Kabul are considered to be the higher, as is common with most capital cities. However, the cost of living is rising but so too are the local wages. In general though, the level of hardship in Afghanistan is considered to be quite high compared to other countries on an international scale.

People arriving from most other countries will require a visa for Afghanistan. There are special visas for three day transits, on arrival, students, temporary work, partner/spouse and marriage visas.
