If you want to stay longer than 3 months you will need a "Titre
de Séjour". Different from the visa, you only can apply for
a residence permit in France at the Préfecture de Police
or Sous-préfecture at the Sevices des étrangers.

What you need for a residence permit depends on the kind of residence permit. In general you will need the following documents:
- Original and copy of your passport (with valid visa if
needed)
- Birth certificate
- Original and copy of your residence in France (eg: rental
agreement, electricity bill)
- Proof of sufficient funding
- For students: certificate of matriculation from the French
university
- Medical report issued by the OMI (Office des Migrations
Internationales) or an OMI accepted institution or doctor
- Proof of your health insurance
- 3 passport sized photos
Living in Paris
In Paris several areas that are well known for its expat population. If you want
to be a real Parisian, then you should choose to live inside
the Boulevard Périphérique. Another really popular area for
expats is the Bois de Boulogne in the 15th and 16th arrondissement.
Very famous are also the 3rd and 4th arrondissement and therefore
these are extremely expensive. It is common for families to
be looking for nice accommodation in the 11th, 12th and 20th
arrondissement, near the Bois de Vincennes.
In the city center the prices per square meter are approximately:
- 14,000 Euro in Saint Germain
- 12,000 Euro in Marais
- 11,500 Euro near Champs-Elysée
